Buried House is a horror story that I dreamed up a while back. I always wanted to write like Stephen King. I admire him so much! Since I can't write exactly like he does, I've gotta put my own little twist on my horror stories. I love twists. I don't plan them though. I give the floor to my characters and allow them to tell me how the story should be told. So when I hit a corner, I tend to get a little anxious because I have no idea what's around that corner and it always pulls me deeper into the story! It compels me. That's how I usually get through a story so quickly.
I love a good haunting, and I watch a lot of TV, movies, and such. As I write my stories, I keep those movies in my mind and allow them to inspire the characters. I find hoops for them to jump through so I do make them go through a lot lol.
For instance. The main character, David Rogers, thinks of an idea in order to get the doors opened in the story. I don't know why I never saw people do this in the movies, but I thought his idea was pretty cool. He finds a screwdriver and takes the hinges off of the door. Of course, the house does put the doors back up keeping them imprisoned in the house, but still--it was a smart idea!
The house "plays" with their minds. Not in a jokingly manner like my husband likes to do, but in a sinister way. People die, of course, but the characters don't know they're dead! The house takes advantage of that, using them to continue the sinister ways.
A little backstory. The owner, Charles Blackwood, disappeared. His wife too. His family knew of the house's history so they had it buried, hoping it would put the house to sleep. What made it what it is? Deep within the basement, the characters in the story stumble upon a cave-like room where a cult performed their activities. This opened something evil that prays on people's fears. Clues are sprinkled throughout the story so no info dumping. I wanted the characters to slowly find this information, giving in to the plot. I'm following all of the characters and they do get divided several times, so multiple POVs are essential to tell this story properly. That means a lot of chapters, some of which are short.
The second main character for the story is David's sister, Becka. She's been trying to become the main character so I decided to give her a half-role for it. That means I'll have to rewrite the blurb, which is fine. This book will release on February 21, 2025 as planned.
Meanwhile, a few of my books written under A.R. Grosjean will get new covers and republished under the new name. Keep your eyes out for them. Thank you!
