Simple Comfort Habits

ree

Things that I find comforting, I wouldn't call habits...

When I'm feeling low or lower than low, listening to music and singing along usually perks me up. The better the beat, the better I begin feeling--songs like Best News Ever by MercyMe or Fight Song by Rachel Platten. I love a variety of music—country, Christian rock, normal rock, R & B, pop, etc. If there's a beat and I can understand the words, I'm gonna listen to it. And if I listen enough, I learn the words, and when I hear them, I just want to sing along. Sometimes, I get carried away. I quickly get in a better mood every time.

I have "moods". When I get into certain moods, I get put into a cleaning frenzy. These are times when I get deep cleaning done and don't get in my way. Billy has learned how to spot these "moods," and he'll get out of the way because he's seen how I can get lol. Yes, I've yelled at him lol. It's not intentional, and I can't control it, but sometimes it's a good thing to have these moods because our room gets extra clean, and I like that. I have spent full days cleaning, and those little fits I'm in go away smoothly.

I find comfort in finding those ways to "calm down". When I had a tub, I would put on my headphones and just soak in the tub, making that water as hot as I could handle. I miss those days, and I miss having a tub. It's weird how you miss those little things. I went without an iron for years and missed doing creative things to clothes. Did you know something as little as buying an iron actually made me really excited? It did, I'm really serious lol.

Crafting is another thing that I find comforting. I guess it's a habit, or maybe more of a hobby. I don't know, what makes something a habit?

What is something that brings you comfort?
